The Mercedes-Benz Museum in front of the gates of the Untertürkheim plant is an architectural highlight and a highprofile platform for prestigious Daimler events.
Description
Complex negotiations were required with authorities in order to get the go-ahead for a project which is located in a mineral spa protection zone and close to a waste disposal site. The geometrically curved double-helix structure fully exploits the technical potential of the architecturally impressive building. Manpower and cost stability – For the Owner, DaimlerChrysler, Drees & Sommer’s experience and performance with comparable prestigious projects were decisive. In view of the tough competition in the global automobile industry, assurance of project completion within budget had top priority. To manage the complex flow of documents, Drees & Sommer set-up a sophisticated project communication tool which allowed the just-in-time use of both required drawings and building materials. The structure was completed in less than two years of construction time.Facts
