Frankfurt Airport Terminal Connection

Design and Construction Supervision of HVAC, Fire-Protection, Electrical-, Security-, Datasystems


The new connection building enables the passengers to move between terminal 1 and 2 by foot instead of embarking on the local railway system. It is a long elongated structure (314 m) with two levels to separate passenger flows. The whole project has been designed in 3D-CAD according to Fraport design standards. All floors are protected with a sprinkler system including wet pipe, dry pipe and pre-action systems. The thermal conditioning is conducted using fan coil systems that are installed in the suspended ceiling . All security systems (access control, intrusion detection, fire detection, door management, video surveillance) are designed and built to meet Fraport standards. In addition an inhouse antenna system for mobile phone support has been installed. All areas are provided with smoke extract systems and positive air pressure escape routes.
